This manual describes, in full detail, the hand-building of a soprano ukulele. Much of what it covers applies to other instruments and to lutherie in general: nothing is left to chance, and every thought and movement — even those driven by instinct — is set down within a precise method of work that is always evolving. The volume comes with streaming video lessons.
“What these pages describe is simply a method of work, with no claim to be the method. On the contrary, the book means to say plainly that there are no secrets in lutherie. Were it otherwise, it would all be far too easy. It is a very long road, one that lasts a lifetime, where every working session is a chance to understand and take in something new. The aim is to try to press one's own character onto an object that will speak for us even after we are gone.”
A note on language
The book is written and published in Italian only; no English edition exists yet.
